You may have seen our stunning multi coloured San Antonio Beach Bag and wondered how to recreate the ombre effect for the perfect Summer Beach Bag.
Well don't worry we've got your back! It's really easy and we'll talk you through the steps to create this ombre effect stitch perfect for sunny days.
WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE THE BAG?
Well first of all you'll need the pattern which you can purchase here:

The you'll need:
- An 8mm and 6mm crochet hook
- 600g of double knit cotton yarn, we used the following colours: Jaffa, Aqua, Fuchsia, Coral, Lemon and Baby Pink
- A tapestry needle + scissors
*Hint* This makes a great scrap project bag!
COLOUR CHANGES...
The San Antonio Beach bag uses four strands held quadruple for the body of the bag.
We used two base colours which we kept the same throughout, for the bag shown it was Coral and Lemon.
Then you'll want to change one of the other two colours every few rows / rounds. So work a couple of rows with your two base colours, then switch up one of the other two colours randomly every few rows or rounds. Work a few more rows / rounds then change the other colour for a few rows / rounds.
To reduce our ends to weave in later, we used an invisible knot to join the yarn strands. Also known as a Russian knot. We have a video tutorial for this joining technique available on our YouTube channel.

You can use other joining methods, but we couldn't face weaving in all those ends!
WHAT ABOUT THE HANDLE?
So for the handle you'll need to use the 6mm crochet hook and only two strands held double. We used our base colours to reflect the body of the bag, however you can choose which ever colours you like!
We hope that has helped understand how to create the ombre effect for your San Antonio Beach Bag. We can't wait too see the colour combinations you choose!
